Course summary

This qualification gives a general grounding in computer Science, including an understanding of computer systems, the principles of programming and the solving of problems. We cover 5 different programming paradigms, our main language being Python. It includes the technical information about how computers work and the transfer of data. Opportunities to explore and engage with the changing technology scene and programming.

Entry requirements

All students are required to have a minimum of 5 GCSEs. *This also includes achieving a grade 4 and 5 in GCSE English Language and English Literature and a grade 3 or above in GCSE Maths. Subject specific requirements: At least a Grade 6 in Computer Science and Grade 5 in English Language and a grade 7 at Maths

How you'll be assessed

There are two exams: Component 1: 40% one a computer based exam which is a combination of theory and programming. Component 2: 40% The other a written theory paper. Component 3: 20% This is an individual project
