It covers the key concepts of biology and practical skills are integrated throughout the course. A level Biology is an excellent base for a university degree in healthcare such as medicine, veterinary science or dentistry, as well as the biological sciences, such as biochemistry, molecular biology or forensic science. Biology can also complement sports science, psychology, sociology and many more. What will I Study? For AS Module 1: Development of practical skills Module 2: Foundations in biology Module 3: Exchange and transport Module 4: Biodiversity, evolution and disease For A Level Module 5: Communication, homeostasis and energy Module 6: Genetics and ecosystems Through interactive lessons, discussion and practical activity including a fieldtrip to Epping Forest Practical endorsement (only applies to A level biology) This is reported separately from the A level grade (as Pass/Fail). Teacher assessed with common assessment criteria. Requires a minimum of twelve practical activities to be carried out over the two- year A Level course covering a common core list of apparatus and technique usage. Course Offer Conditions Rooks Heath expects to run courses that are offered. However, courses that do not recruit to a satisfactory level may be offered at another center or withdrawn.
Minimum of 6 GCSEs at Grades 9-5 (or C and above) including both Mathematics and English Language. Specific requirements: at least 2 grade 6s and above in GCSE biology and another science.
