Course summary
This is a 2-year linear course – exams will happen in listening, speaking, reading and writing at the end of Year 13. There is also the possibility of a school trip to Spain or a student exchange depending on numbers. In addition, the possibility of viewing a Spanish play.Aspects of Hispanic society • Modern and traditional values (Los valores tradicionales y modernos) • Cyberspace (El ciberespacio) • Equal rights (La igualdad de los sexos) Multiculturalism in Hispanic society • Immigration (La inmigración) • Racism (El racismo) • Integration (La convivencia) Artistic culture in the Hispanic world • Modern day idols (La influencia de los ídolos) • Spanish regional identity (La identidad regional en España) •Cultural heritage (El patrimonio cultural) Aspects of political life in the Hispanic world •Today's youth, tomorrow's citizens (Jóvenes de hoy, ciudadanos del mañana) •Monarchies and dictatorships (Monarquías y dictaduras) •Popular movements (Movimientos populares) At A Level, work continues on the four skills of listening, speaking, reading and writing. A more in-depth study of grammatical structures is undertaken, leading to increased confidence with the language and ability to manipulate the language for your own ends. Lessons are conducted mainly in the foreign language and a variety of topic areas are covered, in much greater depth than at GCSE level.
