What will I learn on this course? The OCR Level 3 Cambridge Sport and Physical Activity is designed to give students grounding into all areas of the sports industry. The course is designed to provide students with a broad understanding of the sports industry and the skills and knowledge required to pursue a career within the sports industry. At Harris Academy Battersea CTEC Sport is available as either a double or a single qualification. The OCR Level 3 Cambridge Technical extended certificate/diploma in Sport and Physical Activity focuses on the skills, qualities and attributes that universities and employers demand of our students. This is a practical based subject with students developing professional, social and interaction skills between peers, teams and organisations in the local community. In year 12 students will study a range of units including body systems and effects of exercise, health and safety of sport, sports coaching and health and fitness testing. In year 13 students will study more units (number of which is dependent on if you’re on the single or double award) units including sports injuries, organising events, practical individual sports and sports organisation and development.
To succeed on this course students must have a sound base of knowledge in multiple areas of sport learnt through a key stage 4 course such as GCSE PE, BTEC Sport or Cambridge National Level 2 awards, with a minimum grade of merit or equivalent. They should possess the transferable skills needed at sixth form level such as organisation and the ability to meet deadlines. Minimum entrance requirements for these courses are merits in level 2 vocational courses plus five GCSE good passes (5+) and a strong commitment to the subject.
