Mathematics includes the study of Algebra, Calculus, Geometry and Trigonometry. Additionally, students will study Mechanics (forces and the motion of physical) and Statistics (principles and methods of statistical analysis). Linear A Level: Mathematics is a linear A Level meaning that all the exams will take place at the end of Year 13 and will test all the material that has been covered over 2 years. There is an emphasis on problem solving, modelling and reasoning in the new A Level. Mathematics is the only subject to offer two A Levels in the same field.
At least eight GCSEs grades 9-4 Grade 7 in GCSE Mathematics. All students must also have achieved a minimum of a GCSE Grade 5 in English Language OR English Literature. (All Summer Transition work “must be completed” to the minimum required standard in order to study A Level Mathematics)
