Course summary
Who is the course for? This course is for students who wish to learn about business and pursue a career in that field. It is equivalent to three GCE A Levels. What can it lead to? A Merit grade or above from the course could take you onto a business related degree course in Higher Education. This course could lead to jobs in the following sectors: business, finance, banking, accountancy, law, insurance, marketing, personnel and management. How will I be taught? Assignments, class discussions, group activities, case studies, videos, outside speakers, student presentations. What will I study? You will study and complete seven mandatory units, three of which are internally assessed and four that are externally assessed (exam and assessment) on exploring businesses, developing a marketing campaign, personal and business finance, managing an event, international business, principles of management and business decision making. You will also study a selection of six optional units which incorporate real life business scenarios that will further develop your knowledge and understanding of activities within the business world. These include The study of a number of business themes, including recruitment and selection, team building, customer service, promotion and many more. Work Experience is key to the BTEC qualifications, ensuring links to industry are made for students’ future prospects.
