Course summary
Computer Science is a practical subject where students can apply the academic principles learned in the classroom to the real world systems. It is an intensely creative subject that combines invention and excitement, and can look at the world through a digital prism University or full-time employment. It can lead to career opportunities within a wide variety of Computer Science fields including software engineering, systems analysis, web, app and game development, and hardware engineering and IT consultancy. At AS: At A2: C1: Computer Systems C1: (A2 Spec) C2: Algorithms and Programming C2: (A2 Spec) C3: Coding Project Theory supported by a large element of practical application. Some group or pair work will be required. Students will have access to a wide range of learning resources in the form of presentations, engaging activities, discussions, exam practice and videos.

Assessment
At AS 100% exam (2 papers, 50% each) At A2 80% exam, (2 papers 40% each) and 20% project. You will be given the opportunity to develop interpersonal, academic and technical skills which will enable you to meet career challenges in the future. There is a strong emphasis on theory of both Hardware and Software as well as practical application of theory (computer programming using the Python computer language). You will gain a detailed and in-depth knowledge of computer and systems architecture as well as algorithms and software development. At A2 the programming project will be completed independently with regular checkpoints with your teacher. Full details of the course are available on the OCR website. Standard stationery and writing materials. You own laptop for Programming Project at A2 Level.
