Course summary

What will I learn? This qualification is not just about being able to use computers. Employers have told us that they need people who are able to help them develop their systems or the systems for their customers, use IT as a tool to analyse data and develop applications. Therefore, this qualification is designed to give learners a range of specialist knowledge and transferable skills in the context of applied IT. How is the course structured? There are 3 compulsory units that all students will study these are Fundamentals of IT , Global information and Cyber Security. In addition, students will study 2 further optional units that will be selected by the department.

Entry requirements

25 points minimum at GCSE including a 4 in Maths and English. In order to study a Level 3 Vocational Course students will generally need to obtain a minimum total point score of 25, this is equivalent to 5 GCSE’s at Grade 5, these must include Mathematics and either English Language or English Literature.

How you'll be assessed

The 3 compulsory units are assessed via written exams. The remaining 2 units are assessed via the completion of coursework tasks.
