What will I learn? Engineering covers a broad variety of roles and it involves the application of scientific principles and practical knowledge to transform ideas and materials into products and systems safely and support them during their lifetime. This qualification has a focus on a broad range of engineering specialist areas. It will include engineering principles and mathematics, health and safety, teamwork and interpreting and creating computer- aided engineering, drawings, design and manufacture of products.
25 points minimum at GCSE including a 4 in Maths and English. If students have studied a L2 Engineering qualification they must have obtained a Merit in order to start the course. In order to study a Level 3 Vocational Course students will generally need to obtain a minimum total point score of 25, this is equivalent to 5 GCSE’s at Grade 5, these must include Mathematics and either English Language or English Literature.
Units 1 is assessed by a 2 hour written examination set by the exam board. Units 3 is assessed in an 8 hour assessments where students complete a task set by the exam board under supervised conditions. All other units are assessed by completion of the coursework tasks for each unit, these are marked by your teachers and moderated by the exam board.
