Students will develop a detailed knowledge of life processes and an understanding of how organisms interact with their environment. The course explores a wide range of biological themes. It begins with a detailed study at the molecular level of biological molecules and how these interact in intricate ways within cells, both in health and in disease. The structure, importance and role of DNA is studied in depth and interactions within and between organisms at the population level are also explored. The study of the specification content is enriched with purposeful investigation and practical work throughout the course. There are 12 required practicals to complete with are teacher-assessed. There is a significant mathematical demand in the A-level Biology course. You will be supported in becoming proficient at analysing, interpreting and processing data.
• 5 pass grades at GCSE • 5+ in Mathematics GCSE and English Language GCSE • Sat higher tier GCSE Science and achieved a grade 6+ in Biology GCSE or 6,6 in Combined Science GCSE
