The Level 3 Diploma in Site Carpentry qualification has been developed for achievement in a training environment which means you do not need to be employed to undertake this qualification. This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognize your skills, knowledge and understanding so you can work as a Site Carpenter within the construction industry. The course builds on knowledge gained at Level 2 and includes complex roofing such as hips, valleys, dormers, geometrical stairs and curved work. The course includes general core units, occupation specific units, practical assignments and online testing of knowledge. In order to gain the Diploma, you must complete all of the components of the course. You can progress into employment or go on to further qualifications, such as the Technical Supervisors and Management Qualification or the FdSc in Sustainable Construction.
You must already have the Level 2 Diploma, Intermediate Construction Award or equivalent qualification in wood occupations. Alternative relevant qualifications may also be suitable. You will be invited to an initial assessment and interview to determine your suitability for the course.
You will be assessed against a set of performance and knowledge statements which have been derived from National Occupational Standards for your occupational area. You will be trained and assessed by an occupationally competent and qualified trainer whose job is to help you complete your qualification.
