Course summary

“Business opportunities are like buses there is always another one coming” Richard Branson. If you want to explore the vast opportunities of the world of business, then this is the course for you. You will learn about the structure of business organisations and the processes involved in planning, setting up and running a business venture, such as: management and human resources, finance, marketing, basic economics and ethics, and the importance of innovation and creativity in business. The qualification provides the knowledge, understanding and skills that allow learners to gain business sector experience that will prepare them for further study or training. This includes the opportunity to choose two units from a selection of options to supplement the mandatory units which reflect the key topics in business. The learning program covers the following mandatory content areas: •business environments •finance •marketing •international business •management This qualification is aimed at learners aged 16-19-years old. Course Outcomes The qualification aims to provide a wide-ranging study of the sector. It is primarily designed for learners studying full time in the 16–19 age group, who wish to pursue a career in business, primarily via higher education to access graduate entry employment with businesses, or alternatively through junior business employment in either Business Administration or Management, or their corresponding apprenticeships. Progression The qualification carries, UCAS points and is recognized by higher education providers as contributing to meeting admission requirements to many relevant business Foundation degrees and HND’s. there are opportunities during the teaching and learning phase to give learners practice in developing employability skills such as: •cognitive and problem-solving skills: use critical thinking, approach non-routine problems applying expert and creative solutions, use systems and technology. •interpersonal skills: communicating, working collaboratively, negotiating and influencing intrapersonal skills: self-management, adaptability and resilience, self-monitoring and development, self-presentation.
