Health Studies
Course summary
This two year course leads to a nationally recognized qualification. It comprises 18 units of health, psychology and science subjects. The theoretical component is usually completed over four college days per week, with one day per week and two 1 week block placements in each year within a work setting. Students will gain work experience in both adult and childcare settings during their course. Additional Studies Students will have the opportunity to retake GCSE Mathematics or additional studies as available. Course Outcomes Employment Higher Education To identify the health and care needs of children, young people, vulnerable adults and the elderly Progression Employment in care settings or higher education including courses such as social work, nursing and the professions allied to medical care. Extra Curricular Activities All students can add to their main program of study by taking part in a wide range of clubs, groups, societies and courses. Not only are the activities fun, they also develop skills and provide new and fulfilling experiences, as well as enhancing applications to Higher Education and employment.

Assessment
EXAMINATION BOARD: EDEXCEL Assessment is by internally and externally assessed assignments and a satisfactory work experience portfolio. There is no final examination.
