The coursework element offers complete freedom of topic and media choice, as we believe that students should be given every opportunity to work to their strengths. Component 1: Personal Investigation & Related Study You will choose a starting point/ theme from which you will develop a body of work over the two years. You will then complete a series of mini skills workshops to strengthen your skills in a range of decorative Textiles techniques. You will gather ideas and research a range of artists and other contextual references within your theme; using these as inspiration to develop experiments and personal responses. This is followed by planning for a final outcome through sketchbook work, and production of the outcome itself. The coursework unit will also be supported by a piece of written work relating to your Personal Investigation (1000 words minimum). Component 2: Externally Set Task You will respond to one starting point from the exam paper; developing your skills and knowledge through a wide range of experimental techniques and processes; whilst using contextual references as inspiration for further ideas.
