Course summary
If you are over 16 years old and have an interest in sports performance, sports leadership or fitness, the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport may be for you. This course is designed to equip you with the knowledge, understanding and practical skills required for successful employment in the sport and recreation industries but it also prepares you for a higher national or undergraduate degree programme in Physical Education, Sports Science, Sports development or Sports coaching. On completion of the two-year programme the Level 3 Extended Diploma is equivalent to 3 A levels. The BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport at Barnet and Southgate College covers 18 units over two years. In the first year of this course (Foundation Diploma), you will study a range of topics including Anatomy & Physiology; Fitness Training and Programming; Sports Leadership; Fitness Testing. As part of our full-time study programme, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable work experience and you will also be required to attend training with your chosen academy.
