WHO IS THIS COURSE FOR? This course is for students who are academically minded and have a real interest in Sport and Fitness and want to further their understanding of the physiological aspects such as the human body; want a deeper understanding of Health and Fitness Training and a clearer understanding of the Sports Industry. This subject is a practical, work related course. You will learn by completing practical sessions; internally assessed assignments; tasks tackling everyday issues from pre- release material and through an externally assessed written examination. The core units studied are: - Anatomy and Physiology - Fitness Training and Programming for Health, Sport and Well Being - Professional Development in the Sport Industry - Sports Leadership - Practical Sport In addition to this, the units below are a sample of some of the optional units you could study: - Sports Psychology - Application of Fitness Testing - Research Methods in Sport - Sport Event Organization WHERE NEXT - POSSIBLE CAREER PROGRESSION? This course will provide students with the necessary skills to enter higher education as part of a programme of study, which includes other vocational or general subjects such as other BTEC Nationals or A Levels. It will also give students a base of knowledge to enter the sporting industry: within the areas of sport education, coaching, sports therapies, fitness instruction and/or teaching physical education.
