Course summary

The Extended Diploma is a two year, full time course that meets entry requirements in its own right for learners who want to progress to higher education courses in business areas before entering employment. It can also support learners who want to progress directly to employment in job roles in business or business management and Higher Apprenticeships in the business sector. The course also addresses sector needs and skills gaps in areas such as Finance, Marketing and Management. Students complete work experience as part of the course, preparing them for future employment. Learners should always check the entry requirements for degree programmed with specific higher education providers. After this qualification, learners can also progress directly into employment, however it is likely that many will do so via higher study. Areas of employment include junior business roles in marketing, administration, finance, financial services, procurement, events management, human resources, and other related areas in the business sector. Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above ideally including English Language at grade 4 or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Merit with English Language at grade 4. In addition/ within those 5 GCSEs, for this subject you will need to achieve Grade 4 in Maths and English Language OR BTEC Level 2 Diploma in related area with Merit.

How you'll be assessed

BTEC Nationals are assessed using a combination of internal assessments, which are set and marked by teachers, and external assessments which are set and marked by Pearson: - Mandatory units have a combination of internal and external assessments - All optional units are internally assessed.
