Course summary

A Level Spanish builds upon your existing knowledge gained at GCSE, giving you a sound understanding of using your language in a variety of contexts and situations - at home, abroad, with friends or in the workplace. Spanish is the second most widely-spoken language in the world and one of the most widely-understood languages in Europe, with over 400 million speakers; studying A Level Spanish can provide you with the speaking, listening and understanding skills to continue your studies in Spanish at university, as well as equipping you to work and travel in Europe, Central and South America, and other Spanish-speaking countries. In this course, you will explore a wide range of topics, including aspects of Hispanic society, artistic culture in the Hispanic world, multiculturalism in Hispanic society and aspects of political life in Hispanic society. You will also study a book and a film, developing your skills in analysis. You will learn new grammar and vocabulary and consolidate it through translation into and out of Spanish.
