Why Study the National Extended Certificate in Business? The National Extended Certificate in Business is a qualification which allows you to gain a thorough understanding of activities relating to business operations and organization. It is equivalent to one A Level. What Topics Will I Study? Four modules of which three are compulsory and one is an optional unit. An Example of the Type of Work Involved For ‘Developing a Marketing Campaign ‘ unit, the learners will be provided with a case study two weeks before a supervised assessment period in order to carry out research. The supervised assessment period is a maximum of three hours and can be arranged over a number of sessions in a period timetabled by external examination body and produced as a written submission. What Careers or Higher Education Follow from this Subject? On completion of this course you will be suited to progress to study for a degree in Business Studies or a business related degree or training or employment.

GCSE Economics or Business Studies at grade 4 or CIDA at grade C or BTEC Level 2 Business or ICT at Merit. In exceptional circumstances, students who have not previously studied these subjects may be admitted if they show a particular aptitude and enthusiasm for the subject.

Assessment
‘Exploring Business’ is a compulsory and ‘Recruitment & Selection Process’ is an optional unit. Both units will be internally assessed. ‘Developing a Marketing Campaign’ and ‘Personal & Business Finance’ are compulsory units and are externally assessed. Developing a Marketing Campaign is a task set and marked externally and completed under supervised conditions. Personal & Business Finance is written examination and is set and assessed externally.
