COURSE DESCRIPTION In Year 12, you will cover the core exam contents in biology, chemistry and physics, such as periodicity and properties of elements; structure and functions of cells and tissues; and waves in communication. You will also conduct core practical’s such as titrations, colorimetry, making standard solutions, calorimetry and chromatography. You will write four reports on these practical’s for coursework unit. In Year 13, you will build further scientific investigation skills such as planning a scientific investigation, data collection, data processing, statistical analysis, drawing conclusions and evaluation. You will produce three reports on human regulation and reproduction: the interrelationships and nervous control of the cardiovascular and respiratory systems; the homeostatic mechanisms used by the human body; the role of hormones in the regulation and control of the reproductive system. · Unit 1: Principles and Applications of Science I (Exam) · Unit 2: Practical Scientific Procedures and Techniques (Coursework) · Unit 3: Scientific Investigation Skills (Exam) · Unit 9: Human Regulation and Reproduction (Coursework)
