WHY STUDY THIS COURSE? BTEC Health and Social Care offers a broad basis of study for the health and social care sector. It is a highly successful course which stretches students and gives you a varied insight into the world of health and social care. The BTEC Health and Social Care course, when combined with A levels, offers an excellent route to university for a variety of degrees. COURSE DESCRIPTION This course is the perfect way to start on a journey into a career in Health & Social Care. You will examine different areas of care, so you can understand which career path and field of work suits you best. The Health & Social Care department has a team of teachers who come from departments such as PE and Psychology and thus are able to provide a full spectrum of specialisms within the Health and Social Care sector and have years of experience both working and teaching in the area within the sixth form. Teachers will help you develop your skills and knowledge and turn what can start as just an interest in a career in helping others into a vocation. Amongst the modules studied on the course are: Human life span development; Meeting individual care & support needs, Working in Health & Social Care; Psychological perspectives. You will be assessed by coursework; controlled assessments; externally set exam.
