Course summary

Education in visual arts is fundamental to the aesthetic, physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth of the individual. It defines and deepens human experience in ways that are both real and magical. We cultivate a form of literacy by developing intuition, reasoning, and imagination, leading to a unique form of communication. We endeavour to support our students in becoming creative, critical, independent, visual thinkers, enabling our students to develop unique ways of knowing, doing, and belonging in both a local and global community

Entry requirements

A minimum of seven grade 5s in full course GCSE subjects. No vocational subjects allowed. English Language 5. At least a grade 6 at GCSE. Must bring a portfolio to course discussion meeting.

How you'll be assessed

Students sit examinations in their A Level courses at the end of Year 13. All students will take internal end of year examinations at the end of year 12 to determine suitability to continue with the subject in Year 13. Students who do not meet the required pass grade in the Year 12 end of year examinations will not be permitted to progress into Year 13. 60% of marks come from the Personal Investigation component; 40% of marks come from the Externally Set Assignment component. Both components are assessed at the centre and then externally moderated.
