Course summary

This BTEC is an applied general qualification and is widely recognised by both industry and higher education. The content of the BTEC has been designed in collaboration with a range of employers and professional bodies and this ensures that your curriculum meets the needs of the sector. The curriculum is flexible and offers you a good balance of breadth and depth. This is an excellent option if you wish to pursue a career in business and provides ample opportunity for you to put your learning into practice through work experience opportunities. This course supports progression to business related degrees, as well as apprenticeships or employment. You can go on to study degrees such as Business Administration, Management and Business Studies at universities such as Leeds, Liverpool, and Surrey. The Extended Certificate is for learners who are interested in learning about the business sector alongside other fields of study, with a view to progressing to a wide range of higher education courses, not necessarily in business-related subjects. It is designed to be taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals or A Levels. This BTEC is equivalent to 1 A Level or 360 guided learning hours.
