The Politics curriculum aims to focus on the nature and context of the American political and governmental system. Students will acquire a deep subject knowledge based on the institutions and concepts that make Britain the country that it is today. In order to supplement this, students will be challenged with learning a variety of political ideologies that encourage them to deepen their knowledge and understanding of political theory, embellishing their knowledge of political practises with contextual ideological examples and promoting deeper thinking.
• A minimum of seven grade 5s in full course GCSE subjects. No vocational subjects allowed. • English Language grade 5 • Grade 6 in another Humanities subject at GCSE • Extended writing subject
There are 3 papers in the Government and Politics A Level. Each is out of 84 marks and is equally weighted (so each paper is worth 33% of your final grade). In Year 12 there are three types of questions: • 30 mark source essays • 30 mark evaluative essays • 24 mark political ideas essays In Year 13 there are also the: • 12 mark comparative question • 12 mark comparative theory question
