Course summary
You will receive a broad basis of study for the care sector. This qualification is designed to support progression to higher education when taken as part of a programme of study that includes other appropriate BTEC Nationals. In year one your full-time course of study will consist of a coherent study programme that supports progression to a further year of study at Level 3. Depending on your GCSE results you will be enrolled on the L3 National Extended Certificate or the National Foundation Diploma in Health and Social Care. The main programme aim in year 1 is to give you a general introduction to the basic concepts methods and key areas of knowledge within the core disciplines taken. Over the two years that you are on the Health and Social Care course you will undertake study in different subject areas and complete a variety of units such as - Human Lifespan Development - Working in Health and Social Care - Meeting Individual Care and Support Needs - Principles of Safe Practice in Health and Social Care - Sociological Perspectives - Supporting Individuals with Additional Needs
