This course encourages personal, creative and imaginative approaches to Art and Design allowing students considerable choice and flexibility in the choice of subject materials and use of media. Component 1 - Personal Study 60% Incorporates three major elements: supporting studies, practical work, and a written personal study. Component 2 - Externally Set Assignment 40% Incorporates two major elements: You will have ten weeks to prepare practical preparatory studies for a 15 hour final practical examination.
At least eight GCSEs grades 9-4 Grade 5 in GCSE Fine Art, Textiles, Product Design or another creative subject including Photography, Graphic Communication, Art History or 3D Design. Students who have not studied any of the above creative subjects at GCSE will need to submit a substantial portfolio to a minimum of a Grade 5 standard.
