Course summary
We aim to develop the student’s interest in, and enthusiasm for physics, including developing an interest in further study and careers in physics or physics related subjects. Students will gain an understanding of how society makes decisions about scientific issues and how the sciences contribute to the success of the economy and society. They will learn about how both qualitative and quantitative processes can be used to gain knowledge and will develop essential knowledge and understanding of different areas of Physics and how they relate to each other. Y12 Curriculum Module 1: Development of practical skills. • Skills of planning, implementing, analysis and evaluation Module 2: Foundations of physics. Includes: • Physical quantities and units • Scalars and vectors • Measurements. Module 3: Forces and motion. Includes: • Motion • Forces in action • Work, energy and power • Materials • Newton’s laws of motion and momentum. Module 4: Electrons, waves, and photons. Includes: • Charge and current • Energy, power and resistance • Electrical circuits • Waves • Quantum physics
