History
Course summary
History focuses on three fascinating stages in world history, which are still hugely significant in helping us to understand the modern world: the birth of the USA, the British Empire and the Arab-Israeli Conflict. WHAT WILL I STUDY? - You will study how the USA began its journey from a forgotten British colony to one of the world’s superpowers. - You will learn about how the British Empire went from an empire where ‘the sun never set’, ruling a quarter of the world’s population, to its rapid decline and the creation of the Commonwealth. - You will evaluate the roots of the Arab-Israeli conflict, and how it developed over the twentieth century, regularly igniting into conflicts and creating a situation still smouldering today.
