Students entering the Sixth Form should have a minimum of 5 x grade 5+ at GCSE. If students do not possess at least a grade 5 in English and / or Maths they will be expected to study for these qualifications as part of their post-16 course selection.
Students study 4 units over 2 years: Year 12 · Unit 3: Using Social Media in Business. (Internally assessed unit) You will explore how businesses use social media to promote their products and services. You will also learn how to plan and implement a social media campaign that meets business requirements. · Unit 2: Creating Systems to Manage information (externally assessed unit) You will study the design, creation, testing and evaluation of a relational database management system to manage information. This unit is externally assessed through a task set and is marked by the exam board The set task will be completed in two sessions (3 hours / 2 hours) under supervised conditions on two consecutive days (pm / am). Year 13 · Unit 1: Information technology Systems (externally assessed unit) You will study the role of computer systems and the implications of their use in personal and professional situations. The unit is externally assessed through a written 2 hour examination set and marked by the exam board · Unit 6: Website development (internally assessed unit You will understand the principles of designing and creating a functional website to meet the requirements of a client by exploring the specific requirements, and designing and developing a website for a particular business. This unit encourages you to design and develop interesting and creative websites.
