Course summary

An A level in Psychology would provide students with an in-depth understanding of human behaviour. They will also gain the ability to conduct research and will critically review studies that were conducted to discover more about the human mind. It is a great foundation for many careers in law, journalism, psychiatry, social work, counselling and the police, amongst others. During the course, you will how different approaches explain human behaviour, how behaviour is studied and analysed and how to conduct your own research. You will also learn how to critically analyse both studies and theories. Entry requirements

Grade 6 or above in English Language or Literature Grade 6 or above in Mathematics, Science (especially Biology), History or Geography.

How you'll be assessed

The qualification is linear. Students will sit their exams at the end of their A level course. Paper 1: Topics 1-4. Examination paper: A mixture of short and long answer questions and extended response questions. Total marks – 96. Duration: 2 hours. 33.3% of the total A level marks. Paper 2: Topics 5-7. Examination paper: A mixture of short and long answer questions and extended response questions. Total marks – 96. Duration: 2 hours. 33.3% of the total A level marks. Paper 3: Topic 8 plus some of the optional content. A mixture of short and long answer questions and extended response questions. Total marks – 96. Duration: 2 hours. 33.3% of the total A level marks.
