Course summary

Students who enjoy developing new skills, being creative and are interested in Art, Craft & Design. Students can progress to a foundation course or to higher education courses or employment in architecture, engineering, fine art, illustration, animation, product design, fashion, furniture, interior or industrial design, theatre studies, ceramics, sculpture and many more. The course is designed to enable students to develop personal responses to ideas, observations, experiences, environments and cultures. This will be through a mixture of 2D & 3D media, as well as use of digital media and mixed media including textiles and printmaking. Students will focus on developing their use of this media through taking risks with their work, improving their observational skills and improving their understanding and application of the formal elements in Art. Group and individual tuition; demonstrations; own exploration of new media and techniques and visits to galleries and exhibitions.

Assessment

Work presented for assessment must show coverage of all assessment objectives. Submissions must include work journals showing evidence of research, analysis, exploration, development and evaluation and a portfolio displaying larger, individual work.
