Course summary

Economics is about studying the world around us form a behavioral, financial and cultural perspective. The subject looks at all the different factors that affect wealth and human happiness and wellbeing. Studying economics will develop students’ analytical and quantitative skills, together with qualities and attitudes that will equip them for the challenges, opportunities and responsibilities of adult and working life. Content • Introduction to markets and market failure • The UK economy, performance and policies • Business behaviour and the labour market • Economics from a global perspective You’ll enjoy this course if you have an inquisitive mind and enjoy finding out why humans behave the way they do from a microeconomic perspective and why governments choose to spend money on specific things. It uses quantitative techniques to explain these various issues.
