Course summary

About The Course Duration – 2 Years A Level Mathematics gives you an opportunity to develop your skills in topics such as algebra, trigonometry, statistics, probability, proof, and problem-solving. The course is composed of Pure Mathematics (2/3 of the course) and Applied Mathematics (1/3 of the course). A Level Mathematics is a fun, creative, and empowering subject, which gives us the opportunity to think deeply about abstract problems. It can also be used to create models and algorithms to find solutions to a wide range of problems, e.g. in business, science, planning, politics, etc. At BSix we have a weekly Maths club where students and teachers meet to discuss interesting problems; students are encouraged to go to events at King’s College London and The University of Cambridge to further explore the subject. How Is The Course Taught? Lessons are a mixture of class discussion, note-taking, group work, and individual work, with short quizzes and learning checks to consolidate learning. Homework and independent study work are set every week, on paper or online (e.g. using Dr. Frost or Microsoft Teams).
