History A Level History (Edexcel) Aims To enable students to: read widely and independently set texts and others that they have selected for themselves engage critically and creatively with a substantial body of texts and ways of responding to them develop and effectively apply their knowledge of literary analysis and evaluation explore the contexts of the texts they are reading and others’ interpretations of them undertake independent and sustained studies to deepen their appreciation and understanding of English literature, including its changing traditions.
Five GCSE grades 9-6 with grade 5 in English Language and mathematics English Language 6 Mathematics 5 Five GCSE grades 9-6 with grade 5 in English language and mathematics. It is possible to study economics, history, geography, psychology or sociology in Year 12 if the subject was not studied at GCSE. Enrolment on these courses will be at the discretion of the Academy. All students are enrolled at the discretion of the leadership team and individual results will be discussed as part of the enrolment process on GCSE results day.
