Students will gain a thorough grounding in engineering theory and principles, putting these into practice through classroom experiments, industry visits and university partnerships. The Project (Unit 3) integrates the knowledge and skills gained and translates this into a major piece of work which could be a product, device or service. 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above ideally including English Language at grade 4 or a BTEC Level 2 Diploma at Merit with English Language at grade 4. In addition/ within those 5 GCSEs, for this subject you will need to achieve: Grade 5 in Maths, Grade 4 in Core Science and Grade 4 in Additional Science OR Grade 5 in Maths, Grade 4 in two separate science GCSEs OR BTEC Level 2 Diploma in Engineering with Merit and Grade 5 in Maths
All assessment is through internally assessed work, including practical assignments, projects, coursework, presentations, written assignments and classroom-based tests.
