Course summary

Further Mathematics is the perfect subject for you if you enjoy thinking hard about the more complicated mathematical ideas that you have encountered in Mathematics so far. You will study the compulsory Core Pure components, as well as the Further Pure and Decision Mathematics components. At BSix we have a weekly Maths Club where students and teachers meet to discuss interesting problems or work on Maths Challenges. Further Maths students are also encouraged to go to events at King’s College London and The University of Cambridge to further explore the subject.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade 4. Maths at grade 6 Must be enrolled on A Level Mathematics

How you'll be assessed

You will be assessed throughout the year through a series of formative assessment methods, including mock exams and end of year progression assessments, to check you are keeping pace and understand the content taught. At the end of your second year, you will sit 4 external exams. Each exam is worth 75 marks each, and last for 1 hour and 30 minutes: · Core Pure Mathematics 1 · Core Pure Mathematics 2 · Further Pure Mathematics · Decision Mathematics
