Course summary

This course will allow you to practically demonstrate and apply your knowledge of the fundamental principles of computer science. Through the course you will develop problem solving skills, using an algorithmic approach. You will also gain detailed understanding of both the hardware and software aspects of Computer Science.

Entry requirements

minimum of 5 GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including Maths and English at grade 4. Students will need a GCSE Computer science at grade 5 or above and a minimum grade 5 GCSE Mathematics

Component 1 – computer systems (40% written exam) Component 2 – algorithms and programming (40% written exam) Component 3 – programming project (NEA project 20%)
