Cambridge Technical Level 3 provides an exciting opportunity for all students who have a passion for sport and are interested in how excellence in coaching and leadership can be developed. Students will follow a vocationally specific qualification which will develop a range of personal skills and knowledge that will be essential for successful performance in working life. There is a wide range of centre assessed units with practical and wider project based assessment opportunities, as well as examined units on the body systems and the long and short term impacts of sport and physical activity; how sport is organised and the purpose of sports development; health and safety requirements in sport and physical activity; the purpose of, and how to conduct research in sport and physical activity; and how businesses in sport are organised and what success looks like to them. Year 1 - Cambridge Technical Unit 1: Body systems (external exam January year 12) Unit 2: Sports leadership and coaching (coursework-based unit started in June Year 12 after unit 3 exam) Unit 3: Sports organisations (external exam June year 12) Year 2 – Cambridge Technical Unit 8: Organising sports events (coursework-based unit (started in November year 13) Unit 17: sports rehabilitation (courseworkbased unit (started in Jan/Feb year 13)
Must attain five 9 - 5 grades in full course GCSE subjects including Maths and English Language or Literature. No vocational subjects allowed to count in the five 9 – 5 grades. Indivdual subject critera also applies. English Lang/ Lit 5– ,Maths – 5 and a level 5 in GCSE PE or Merit + in Cambridge National/BTEC
2 written exams units 1 and 3 taken in Jan and June of Year 12. 3 coursework portfolio units one studied in the summer term of year 12 and the final 2 taken in year 13.
