Mathematics (Further)
Course summary
Further Pure Mathematics 1 Proof, Complex numbers, Matrices, Further algebra and functions, Further calculus, Further vectors. Further Pure Mathematics 2 Complex numbers, Further algebra and functions, Further calculus, Polar coordinates, Hyperbolic functions, Differential equations. Further Statistics 1 Discrete random variables, the Poisson, Geometric and Negative Binomial distributions, hypothesis testing and quality of tests, the central limit theorem, chi-squared test and probability generating functions. Further Mechanics 1 Momentum, impulse, work and power, conservation of energy, Hooke’s law, elastic collisions in one and two dimensions. Note 1 – Students choosing Further Math's will be taught Mathematics within the same group and will end up with an A-level in Math's and Further Math's (Also see A-level Mathematics information). Note 2 – Depending on the group the final component may be a further mechanics component instead of Further Pure Math' 4.
