This course is ideal for those with compassion and who want to care for people in differing situations. This BTEC will equip you with the skills needed to support people through an illness, aid them in their growth/development, and help them be safe in their environment. Students participating in this course should have the goal of furthering their careers in Health & Social Care. You will also have to travel to placements while undertaking this course and be prepared to do so. The course will run over two years, having you undergo a mixture of academic theory work and work placements. The placement aims to provide you with real-life care experiences where you can draw from your academic work and further your understanding of the care environment.
A minimum of 5 grade 4s, including a grade 4 or above in GCSE English Language, is required. GCSE Maths must also be at grade 3 as a minimum. If GCSE Maths is at a grade 3, you would have to resit it. If GCSE English Language is at a grade 3 (even if GCSE English Literature is at a grade 4), you would have to resit it.
This qualification is equivalent to three A-Levels. The course contains thirteen units in total; eight are mandatory, and four are externally assessed. Assignments are assessed in a variety of ways, including through Google Classroom, presentations, and essays. Assessment criteria are based on a pass, merit, and distinction grade.
