Business is a dynamic subject that investigates each of the four main business functions: Marketing, Human Resources, Finance and Operations. With a focus on helping you to become a good decision maker, you will learn essential managerial skills alongside techniques to help you become an analytical problem solver – a solid foundation for further study as well as being highly sought after skills in a wide range of careers. At Bilborough College, you will learn through a variety of different teaching methods and can benefit from the opportunity to apply your knowledge to real world businesses in London and New York on our annual trips. We have strong links with a number of local universities including Nottingham, Loughborough and Derby, where our students have participated in a range of activities including taster sessions and enterprise challenges. In the past we have worked closely with some first-rate employers such as KPMG and PwC, with students attending networking events. A level Business provides an array of transferable skills, ideal for further study in Business, Marketing, Finance or Management but also across a broad range of other subjects and careers.
- To study Business at Bilborough, you need a grade 5 in GCSE Maths and grade 5 in GCSE English Language. Although it is not required to have studied Business at GCSE, it is desirable to have a grade 5 if you have. - To study at Bilborough Sixth Form College you must achieve a minimum of 5 GCSEs grades 9 to 4 including English and Maths. We count L2 BTEC merit as equivalent to one GCSE.
The course is examined by three 2 hour written exams at the end of the second year. Each exam is worth a third of the A level qualification, drawing on material from the whole course. There are a range of question styles including multiple choice, calculations, short and long answer questions. These will contain some data response and use of case study stimulus material.
