Course summary

Business A-level will enable you to understand how businesses make decisions and the challenges they face. It will develop your knowledge and understanding of all areas of business including finance, strategy, marketing, human resources and production, as well as the economic environment in which businesses operate. Business A-level will develop your decision-making and problem-solving skills and enable you to tackle complex business decisions, considering a wide variety of factors, in a structured manner. You will learn about many topical issues affecting a wide range of companies. Year 1 - A Level (A selection of topics) - The importance of the context of business in relation to decision making - The interrelated nature of business activities and how they affect competitiveness and the he competitive environment and the markets in which businesses operate - The influences on functional decisions and plans including ethical and environmental issues - The factors that might determine whether a decision is successful (e.g the quality of data and the degree of uncertainty) Year 2 - A Level (A selection of topics) - The impact of technology on strategic decision making - The influences of Corporate Social Responsibility, ethical and environmental issues on strategic decisions - The difficulties in forecasting future trends - The importance of assessing feasibility and risk when making strategic decisions - The impact on stakeholders of strategic decisions and their response to such decisions.
