If you are interested in a career in business then this course would suit. You will build up your knowledge and understanding of the business world and study four units, namely; Exploring Business: Learners will research and learn about local, national and international businesses in different sectors and will research the key ingredients for business success. Learners will complete 3 assignments that are internally assessed and externally moderated. Developing a Marketing Campaign: Learners will gain an understanding of how a marketing campaign is developed and will explore different stages of the process that a business goes through when developing its campaign and will develop their own campaign for a given product. This unit is assessed under supervised conditions. Learners will be given a case study two weeks before a supervised assessment period in order to carry out research. During the supervised assessment period, learners will be required to complete a task where they prepare a rationale and then a plan for a marketing campaign for a given product or service. BTEC, Edexcel sets and marks the task. Personal and Business Finance: Learners will study the purpose and importance of personal and business finance and will develop the skills and knowledge needed to understand, analyse and prepare financial information. This unit is externally assessed by a written examination set by BTEC, Edexcel. The examination will be two hours in length. Recruitment and Selection Process: Learners will explore how the recruitment process is carried out in a business and will give learners the opportunity to participate in selection interviews and review their performance. Learners will complete 3 assignments that are internally assessed and externally moderated. The first two units are completed in Year 12 both units covered in Year 12 are mandatory, of which 1 is external. Students will complete a further two units which will lead to a qualification equivalent to one A Level.
It is not essential that students have studied Retail Business, In Key Stage 4 however, we are looking for students who have achieved 5 GCSEs at grade 9 - 4 including Maths and English.
