Entry requirements

At least a grade 5 in biology and chemistry GCSE or 5-5 in trilogy.

How you'll be assessed

Unit 1: Human Health and disease: 2 hour written exam paper (Part of this paper will be based on a pre-release article which is connected to the unit content) Unit 2: Physiological measurements techniques: A portfolio of work will be produced and assessed by the class teacher. Along with witness statements from the teacher to say that the student has successfully carried out a range of physiological tests. Unit 3: Medical science research methods: Learners will use their knowledge and understanding of research methods to conduct their own research. They will process the data they have collected and make evidence based conclusions. This unit will be assessed by the class teacher. Unit 4: Medicines and treatment of disease: A portfolio of work, including a group presentation that is assessed by the class teacher. Unit 5: Clinical laboratory techniques: This unit is externally assessed by a controlled assignment provided by WJEC. The assignment will be carried out over several sessions under exam conditions. Unit 6: Medical case study: 1 hour 30 minute exam based upon 3 different case studies and integrating knowledge from units 1-5
