Course summary

Psychology is the study of people – it considers what makes people ‘tick’ and why people do the things that they do. The study of Psychology will help you better understand how we work as individuals and why people sometimes act in unusual and undesirable ways. The study of Psychology will develop a number of transferable skills such as critical thinking, application and writing skills. You will benefit from the following resources and facilities: experienced, specialist teachers who are examiners for the exam board. dedicated teaching rooms. resources which are tailored towards the requirements of the exams. Psychology lessons are carefully designed to make the material easy to understand and relevant to everyday life. Students are well coached on exam technique and benefit from the examining experience of the teaching staff in the department. Many of our students go on to study Psychology at University having enjoyed it so much at A level. Students pursuing other courses will find that universities view Psychology favourably with most considering it a science. Once in employment students will find the transferable skills gained invaluable and will find that they better understand people. The A-level course is assessed at the end of the two-year course. Assessment consists of three two-hour examinations and there is no coursework element.
