Course summary

The following themes are studied: 1. The evolution of Spanish culture since the mid twentieth century (including changes in family, work and the impact of tourism in Spain). 2. Artistic and political culture in the Spanish speaking world (including music, mass media, festivals and traditions) 3. Migration and multiculturalism in Spain 4. Franco's dictatorship and The Transition to democracy in Spain. The assessment is final, in the shape of three papers: 1. Paper 1: listening, reading and translation. candidates need individual access to the sound files and headphones. 2. Paper 2: written response to works: candidates write two essays analyzing a book and a movie studied during the course. 3. Paper 3: speaking: candidates discuss a photocard with questions provided by Edexcel, make a short presentation on a topic of their choice and discuss the topic with the examiner for a further ten minutes approximately.
