Students who study A–level Art courses at Pimlico Academy will work with a variety of media including drawing, painting, printing, mixed media, and new media. Students will develop personal ideas and relate them to the work of artists and designers. Work will be predominately practical but students will have to keep annotated journals containing research and investigation. .
Grade 6—9 in Art GCSE or a strong portfolio of art related work, and will need to attend a portfolio interview.
Component 1: Coursework 60% of the total qualification A portfolio of practical work, A written ‘Personal Study’ of between 1000-3000 words of continuous prose Component 2: Externally Set Assignment 40% of the qualification Supporting studies 15 hours working on a final practical piece/s
