
The course aims to encourage candidates to develop their understanding of Mathematics and mathematical processes in a way that promotes confidence and fosters enjoyment. Pure Mathematics can be best described as theoretical mathematics in an abstract or non-applied manner. As such it has a very high algebra content and good algebraic skills are therefore essential to be successful. Statistics involves the analysis and interpretation of data and takes the skills from GCSE to a much higher level. Mechanics has strong links with Physics, looking at forces and how they interact with objects.
