Drama and Theatre Studies is a practical, intellectual and artistic subject. Students will develop their interests in Drama by acting as both participants and informed members of an audience, fostering a critical appreciation of the subject.
Students will need to gain a Grade 6 or above in GCSE Drama. There may be special exceptions made for students who have not taken GCSE Drama but are experienced performers.
Students will perform in an internally assessed devised performance and record their process in a portfolio consisting of written, verbal and recorded evidence. Students will prepare scripted performances for an audience and they will then be assessed in a practical examination of this by an external examiner. They will sit a final written examination paper about their exploration of set texts and live theatre.
