
This is an interesting and varied creative course centred on designing and exploring the design process. The content builds on the experience of Product Design at GCSE and provides a stimulating and practical course in a range of design disciplines. The course aims to develop your critical and problem solving skills long with your practical skills. You will develop your understanding of contemporary design and technological practices and consider the uses and effects of new technologies and modern materials. You will be required to initiate design solutions, develop, test and trial working models and prototypes using your imagination and ability to innovate.
Students need to gain a Grade 6 or above in GCSE Product Design.
The course is entirely assessed on your design sketchbook, models and final outcomes with a practical examination at the end of Year 12 and 13. Students are required to complete a number of essays on the course.
